What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the Good News – The Good news that Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin debt. We can be forgiven and spend eternity with God in Heaven. The gospel, quite simply, is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
God loved us so much He gave His only son to die on the cross in our place. See John 3:16

Since you’re alive and reading this, it’s not too late if you haven’t turned to Jesus and asked Him to be your personal Savior. Once you turn to Christ, you’ll have a new friend! Jesus wants to be your friend. He’ll be a friend that will never leave or forsake you.

Let’s take a brief look at what the Bible teaches about Salvation.

The Bible tells us that all have sinned and the wages for that sin is death.
The book of Genesis, the first book in the Bible, explains that when we were first created, we were made for fellowship and friendship with God. Adam and Eve enjoyed walking with God in a perfect creation.
However, sin soon entered the human race because Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command. They ate of the fruit they were told not to eat. Everything changed from that point on. Sin entered the human race bringing death, suffering, pain and sorrow. That sin nature was passed down to all men ever since that time. Sin broke our fellowship with God and now sin separates from God.

However, God loved us so much He sent His son Jesus to die for and pay for our redemption. The Bible teaches that the “wages of sin is death.” However, Good News! Jesus died in our place. If we want to be saved, we “call upon the name of the Lord” confess our sin and ask Him to save us. We receive the “gift of God” that is eternal life.

All Have Sinned

  • Romans 3:23 –  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
  • Romans 3:10 –  As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one”
    (as quoted from Ps 53:1-3)
  • Ecclesiastes 7:20For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin.

    The Cost of Sin

  • Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear
  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God’s Gift of Eternal Life

  • John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Ephesians 2:8-9For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should  boast.

Romans 10:9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
